What is Pilates?
Pilates is a unique method of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates. The Six Pilates Principles - Centering, Control, Flow, Breath, Precision and Concentration - combined with focus on core strength and torso stability, set this method apart from any other form of exercise. Control of the core is achieved by integrating the trunk, pelvis, and shoulder girdle. Pilates elongates and strengthens the body, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility through uniform development. A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured.
